Montréal's Palais de justice at 1 Notre-Dame Street East houses the Superior Court of Quebec, the Court of Quebec, and specialized divisions including small claims. Lawyers (avocats) are regulated by the Barreau du Québec; notaires — who in Quebec are full legal professionals, not the notaries-public of common-law provinces — are regulated by the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Both bodies publish a public register. Legal aid is provided through the Commission des services juridiques (Aide juridique), with offices across the island.
